The European Journalism Training Association strongly condemns the Russian aggression to Ukraine. In the statement issued yesterday EJTA says:
The board and the director of EJTA would like to express their sympathy and solidarity to our Ukrainian colleagues, from the consortium of the Ukranian schools which recently joined EJTA after the DESTIN project and from the Institute of Journalism Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University.
We strongly condemn the Russian aggression in Ukraine. We believe that our colleagues from Russia don’t want this awful war either.
In these difficult times, we, EJTA representatives, feel that it’s important to remind ourselves that we have to continue, more than ever, the training of our students to report truthworthy news.
We understand that journalism is very special way of communication. Journalism requires verification, hard work, being compassionate and fair. We have to raise journalists to report, explain, contextualize, and, debunk in order to inform our societies and contribute to the more democratic debate.
Our weapon is our professionalism and collaboration on companionate truth telling, EJTA Board concludes.
